I would say that this amp is the best bang for your buck out there in a 1x12 tube combo layout, with volume to spare.Guest guest, February 2, 2008 in Guitar Amplifiers Overall Rating.I needed a small tube amp with decent powervolume output, that wasnt going to break my back, and my bank.I use mainly a Gibson Les Paul Std., a Peavey Wolfgang Special, and a.
I can get every tone I need to from this amp, and more when pedals are added top the mix. The clean channel is classic Fender.chimey, and bright, it also will break up a bit, when cranked, which I really dig for blusey type stuff. The drive channel is really gainy.I rarely turn it up past 3-4 when gigging, and I get a nice crunchy ACDC type rythym tone. With the drive channel set this way, you can just kick in the more drive feature, and theres a workable lead tone there. I keep the master at around 3-5, and get a nice balanced volume between the channels. I find the response from the guitar to the amp to be quite good. You dont get that buttery smooth drive like from a Boogie, (I have a Lonestar too.), but having said that, its a workhorse type amp. Theres only one set of tone controls, which is a bit limiting, but a little tweaking and Ive got no complaints. I find that my Les Paul sounds best through this amp, since the amp is inherently bright sounding, so the darker Gibson tone suits it really well. The Strat sounds great too, and you can get the SRV tone without too much trouble. I use a Homebrew Electronics Power Screamer 90 of the time for solos. The amp comes with a 5 year warranty, so I wasnt too concerned. Took it into the authorized repair shop, and found out that the reverb tank gave up the ghost. The tank was replaced under warranty, and I havent had a problem since,(touch wood). So I gotta give Fender a 5 rating here.quality control problem here. Ive been playing for over 25 years, and have been through tons of amps. It has all the features that I need for gigging, and it looks cool too. ![]() I use the Lonestar for larger stages, and the Fender for some of the closets we play.lol. ![]() Metal heads should probably look elswhere, it doesnt have crushing distortion, but thats where the pedals come in.
